By League Admin

The nomination window closes at 11.59pm on Wednesday, June 30

The 2021 FAW Grassroots Football Awards celebrate the hard work of the unsung heroes who have kept the faith and, in some cases, kept their clubs alive, through one of the toughest years in living memory.

This year, along with our partners McDonald's, we're taking nominations for award winners, across Wales, in the following categories...

COMMUNITY CLUB OF THE YEAR

This award is for FAW Accredited Clubs that deserve special recognition for the work they do.

With this award, we recognise the clubs that are a focal part of their community and provide playing opportunities for everyone.

The winner of this award may have gone over and above to support their community during the COVID-19 pandemic or used their platforms for social good in the community.

COMMUNITY COACH OF THE YEAR

This award recognises the outstanding contribution of a coach at a grassroots club or Fun Football provider.

Someone who is inclusive, encourages people to start, staying and/or succeeding in football through high-quality coaching.

The winner of this award may be someone that has taken time to connect with players during lockdown through online engagement or that has adapted to the needs of their players to ensure they maintain good physical and mental health during COVID-19.

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR

Across Wales, every evening of the week and every weekend of the year, there are thousands of dedicated volunteers who go unnoticed.

But these individuals are essential to our national game, so this prestigious award is a wonderful way to recognise the heroes.

This could be anyone with any involvement in football be it a coach, team helper, first aider, organiser, or administer, someone who helps others and grows the game.

The winner of this award could be a COVID officer that has helped ensure children have been able to return to activity, an innovative league member that has enabled football to thrive in any window of opportunity or someone that has created virtual competitions to keep clubs and children engaged through lockdown.

BEST GRASSROOTS FOOTBALL STORY (THE PEOPLE'S AWARD)

This looks to reward a project, club or organisation who has enabled a group of players or volunteers to access football and has evidenced a significant and positive social impact through engagement in football.

This could include creating opportunities for those with disabilities or mental health issues, removing barriers to BAME participation, growing the girl's game, an initiative aimed at reducing crime, youth engagement, or any other football activities that have benefited society.

The winner of this award may have used an innovative way to engage with a new audience of players or volunteers during the lockdown.

FUN FOOTBALL PROVIDER OF THE YEAR

This award is for a charter marked McDonald’s Fun Football provider that organises the best 'turn up and play sessions in Wales and has had significant impact on football participation.

They also provide informal, organised football activity with an emphasis on ‘skill development through creative football practice’, ensuring that all participants have a fun and exciting experience of the game.

The winner of this award may have continued to deliver creative and engaging activity to participants online during the pandemic.

RISING STAR OF THE YEAR

This award recognises an individual, aged 21 and younger that is dedicated to helping make grassroots football enjoyable for everyone.

They have made a significant contribution to football within their community, are a role model who acts responsibility whilst encouraging, supporting, and inspiring others.

The winner of this award may have connected with players during a lockdown or provided an online activity to help physical and mental wellbeing.

The nomination window closes at 11.59pm on Wednesday, June 30.
