Dear Sir / Madam,
Re: Registration Periods & notice of approach
Registration Periods
Please be advised that the Football Association of Wales (“the FAW”) is delaying the commencement of the 2020-2021 Season Professional and Amateur Registration Periods (“the registration periods”) due to the global COVID-19 Pandemic.
At this stage, please note that new dates for the registration periods are yet to be confirmed.
Several complex factors need to be considered by the FAW before we can determine new dates, many of which remain unknown. The FAW player registrations department is currently working hard, liaising with FIFA, amongst other key stakeholders in order to agree new dates for the registration periods and hope that the factors to be considered will become clearer in the coming weeks. Once agreed,we will endeavour to let all clubs know as soon as practically possible.
We thank you for your continued patience with this matter.
Notice of approach
With the above in mind, please kindly take note of FAW Rule 79 with regards to notice of approach towards Amateur Players registered for a Club in Wales. In particular, FAW Rule 79.3 states that the seven-day notice period must expire within either of the registration periods applicable to the club serving notice.
Put simply, the earliest notice can be served against an Amateur Player registered with a club is within seven days of the registration periods applicable to the club opening. Therefore, no club is currently able to serve notice against an Amateur Player registered with any Club in Wales.
Thank you for taking note of the above, if you require further information then please do not hesitate to contact myself.
Yours Faithfully,
Aron Hughes
Player Registrations Manager
